Dental implants are the best way to replace a missing tooth. They can look extremely natural, mimicking the look and feel of surrounding, natural teeth in a patient's mouth. It is a highly recommended way to permanently address missing teeth. Unlike a dental bridge, which reduces the enamel of the adjacent teeth and uses them to connect the three teeth together, an implant is a stand-alone tooth that is easier to clean, permanent, and preserves the bony ridge of a patient's mouth. This is why patients with teeth or implants look more youthful than those whose missing teeth have not been replaced.

The process of obtaining a dental implant is simple. First, a patient is examined during a consultation to determine their overall oral health. A CT scan is completed in order to three-dimensionally diagnose the level of bone in a patient's mouth, as a strong and adequate bone structure is required to successfully hold a dental implant in place. The CT scan offers assurance that the dental implant will not hit any vital anatomy such as nerves or sinuses. This is a piece of state-of-the-art technological equipment that is not offered at all dental offices in the area.

This is the process in which the bone will grow around the titanium implant in order to strengthen it and hold it in place. A temporary crown is placed on the implant until the implant is fully integrated into the bone, at which time a permanent dental crown is fabricated and cemented.

Dental implants last an extremely long time, which makes them a more permanent solution to replacing missing teeth than a dental bridge or partial dentures. They also offer more strength and stability than other solutions, which makes them highly recommended by Dr. Thanki, who has over 15 years of experience in placing implants.
